quit respiration medicine

Since terminal June, my papa promised to depart smoking. 8 months, and he ease hasn’t quit. The abstract is, he’s had hunch problems in the past, and it makes me angry because how could he be so stupid? Knowing that cigarettes could outlay him his chronicle digit day, and he keeps on smoking. I definite I’d essay something out. You undergo how they delude those Nicotine patches? I was intellection instead of purchase a box, I’d encounter something that looked kindred to the patches and place it on him. I do conceive sometimes that its every in your nous whether you depart or not. Maybe if he believes he’s using actualised nicotine patches, he strength stop.
I forgot the articulate for this, it starts with a “p”. Where they hit digit assemble of grouping presented imitation penalization (but not existence told) and added assemble of grouping attractive actual medicine.
The imitation penalization has a name.
Do you conceive this is a beatific idea?

  • Surely Funke says:

You’re thinking of “placebo” which is a general term for fake treatment. It’s not a brand name or anything.

You’re very kind to have such concern for your father, but nicotine itself is addictive, and it makes chemical changes in the body of someone who has an addiction, so a placebo patch may not fool him.

Then again, it’s so difficult to quit smoking anyway, even with real patches, that anything is worth a try.

Why don’t you leave your Dad alone. If you harp on to him about his addiction then the stress could kill him. If he smokes around you or in the home then just encourage him to smoke outside . That way he may cut down.

The word you are looking for is placebo.

The problem is that your father doesn’t see a real need to quit smoking. He is addicted to nicotine and sees no need to quit. It’s his health and you will have to let him do with it what he wants. Your one weapon is that if no one in your house smokes, you can declare the house smoke free and make him smoke outside. You can also deny him the right to see his grandchildren while he is smoking, his house or yours. Sounds vicious, but it might be the incentive he needs.
